Over the last year we have seen countless historical sites destroyed by conflict, war and disasters. It’s not just the buildings and artifacts that are lost but the heritage and culture for people around the world. We’ve created this project to celebrate and safeguard heritage for future generations. Join us in rebuilding history by digitally recreating what was lost and protecting what is still standing.
ReclaimHistory.org is a crowdsourced online musuem. Here people can come together to digitally recreate, experience, learn about and visit monuments that have been lost. We aim to tell the story of heritage lost across the globe.
This effort is made in coordination with #Unite4Heritage, a global movement powered by UNESCO that aims to celebrate and safeguard cultural heritage and diversity around the globe. It began as Project Mosul by Rekrei. They innovated a new way to digitally recreate monuments lost in Iraq. Building on the initial workflow of using crowdsourced images to virtually recreate artefacts using photogrammetry, their web-based platform is evolving to better utilise publicly-available data on the web to assist their volunteers in new ways. After partnering with Ogilvy and Pet Gorilla, Rekrei will maintain its efforts to rebuild history.
